Liliane Susewind, called Lilli, is 11 years old and a very special girl: she can talk to animals. However, since this has mostly only caused trouble so far, after moving to a new town with her parents Ferdinand and Regina and the dog Bonsai, Lilli decides not to tell anyone about her gift. However, when a thief invades director Essig's local zoo, Lilli finds herself forced to act to help sympathetic zookeeper Toni and the endangered species.
